倒是Chipping(剪小段的金屬繡線再一一繡上,非常閃耀的效果。)和Cutwork(用棉繩在底部用縫線塑型固定後,一一覆蓋上金屬繡線。)

The design came from one on an antique plate, which I then adapted to make it easier to sew. I used the dragon and phoenix motif as the piece is to be a present for my brother and his wife, who got married in the summer, and who really love Chinese art - I wanted the piece to represent balance, harmony and happiness for their marriage. The hardest bit was definitely all the tying off under the body of the phoenix - there were so many ends going in so many directions that I ended up having to stitch them down over the top of each other, which was boring and difficult (and I kept stabbing my fingers). It was also totally terrifying stitching though the kid leather, as once you've made a hole that's it, you're stuck with it! On the other hand I find chipping and cutwork very relaxing, and I'm really pleased at how the silver and bronze highlights have gone in, as I feel they bring character and dynamism to the work.
